The Body Shop Chocomania Body Butter Review + Pictures

Hello DDG, it has been a while I have not written articles. My brother’s wedding, my sister’s birthday, Christmas and a list of others family occasions on December seized my times. Now I am ready for 2014. I know it is a bit late but before I begin with the review, allow me to say Happy New Year to all of you. I hope new year brings us a new spirit and hope… and let's rock 2014!!!

What I have for you in this beginning of new year is The Body Shop Chocomania Body Butter. It is not a new product but the sensation of using it is like being spread by chocolate all over my body and makes me want to taste myself. Therefore, I would like to share my experience and thought about it with you.

Product Information
According to their website:
“This decadently chocolatey Body Butter gives extra long-lasting hydration. It contains 13 Community Fair Trade ingredients – the most we’ve ever put into one product. It leaves skin sweetly scented, and feeling softer and smoother. Wear it, love it, but don’t eat it.”

Packaging

It is packaged in a dark brown plastic container with a label in the cap. There is a picture of heart shape with melted chocolate adorns the label, makes it looks deluxe and attracts people to buy it.

Texture, Scent and Staying Power

This body butter is beige in color with a creamy and thick consistency. It is quickly absorbed into the skin, leaves skin feel soft and smooth. It claims 48 hours hydration but who wants to have the product for that long on body? I experience it stays put for long time, it moisturizes skin better than any body butters I have ever tried, and does not leave a greasy residue.

It is funny when one day I wore it and passed in front of my mom and she said “What kind of smell is it? Who bakes in the kitchen?”.  I do not really know how to describe it because it has a mix kinda smell, not pure chocolatey scent – if I could say - it is more like a bit of nut, coffee, and chocolate, all mixed together… hmmmm sounds yummy, does not it?

Application

It is recommended to apply this product in almost dry skin immediately after bathing or showering because it works even better in this condition; a condition when pores are opened and the product is still able to lock some of the water still on body and use it to moisture skin. Gently rub the product into skin and allow to sink in before you get dress.

Conclusion

Overall, I have no complains with this product. This is my favorite body butter so far. It is great for very dry or chapped skin and for you who have normal skin, you can use it as well especially in cold weather as our skin tend to dry in that condition.

Hello DDG, sudah lumayan lama saya tidak menulis artikel. Pernikahan saudara, ulang tahun adik, Natal dan sederetan acara-acara keluarga lainnya pada bulan Desember menyita waktu saya. Oleh karena itu, saya ingin berbagi pengalaman dan opini saya mengenai produk ini dengan kalian.

Kemasan

Dikemas dalam wadah plastik berwarna cokelat tua dengan label pada tutupnya. Ada gambar berbentuk hati dengan cokelat meleleh menghiasi label, membuat kemasannya terlihat mewah dan menarik orang untuk membeli.

Teksture, Aroma dan Tahan Lama.

Body butter ini berwarna cokelat muda dengan formula yang krimi dan tebal. Sangat cepat terserap ke dalam kulit, membuat kulit terasa lembut dan halus. Produk ini mengklaim kelembaban selama 48 jam tetapi siapa yang mau membiarkan krim selama itu menempel pada tubuh? Saya merasakan produk ini menempel untuk jangka waktu yang lama, melembabkan kulit lebih baik daripada body butter lainnya yang saya pernah saya coba, dan tidak lengket.

Cara Pemakaian

Disarankan untuk memakai produk pada kulit yang hampir kering segera setelah mandi karena ia bekerja lebih baik pada kondisi ini; kondisi di mana pori-pori terbuka dan produk masih dapat mengunci sebagian air yang masih tersisa pada tubuh dan menggunakannya untuk melembaban kulit. Gosok produk dengan lembut dan biarkan meresap ke dalam kulit sebelum kamu berpakaian.

Lucunya ketika suatu hari saya memakai krim ini dan lewat di depan mami saya, dia bilang "Bau apa ya? Siapa yang lagi masak kue di dapur?". Saya tidak tahu bagaimana menjelaskannya karena produk ini memiliki aroma campuran, tidak murni bau cokelat - kalau saya bisa bilang - baunya lebih seperti sedikit ada aroma kacang, kopi, dan cokelat, semua dicampur jadi satu ... hmmmm kedengarannya enak bukan?

Kesimpulan

Secara keseluruhan, saya tidak ada keluhan mengenai produk ini. Sejauh ini, ini adalah body butter kesukaan saya. Sangat bagus untuk kulit yang sangat kering ataupun yang pecah-pecah dan bagi kamu yang memiliki kulit normal, kamu bisa juga menggunakannya terutama pada cuaca dingin karena kulit kita cenderung kering pada kondisi tersebut.

The Body Shop Mango Body Butter Review + Pictures

Who can not live without body butter? Wow… okay…. I can not live without it as well…. My body skin is super dry and there is no reason to leave it in my skin regimen, it is my super power to beat the dryness. One of my favorite products is The Body Shop Mango Body Butter. It is a yellow cream which contains cocoa butter, mango seed oil and sweet almond oil to help repair skin's moisture.

From the ingredient and the orangey color of the jar, we got a clue that this cream smells like mangoes. YUP it is…. Althought I prefer The Body Shop Vitamin E Body Butter’s scent, this one also smells yummy, sweet, fresh, irresistible, makes you want to taste it and stays all day – which is a plus value if you forget to wear deodorant or perfume hahhahhaa…

This product packaged in an eye catching colored plastic jar. The packaging is travel friendly, it comes in small size 50ml and regular size 200ml. You can choose which size that you need. I bought the regular and travel size as well because I like to bring it everywhere I go. 

Besides for body, i also use this cream as a hand cream. I apply it after bathing day and night and with a bit of rubbing this cream will be fully absorbed into the skin. It super moisturizes and changes the appearance of my skin. I am very wasteful in using this product, the 50ml is easily finished only in a few days. Even sometimes the cream is dipped into my nails when I take it out, I still love it…

The mini size costs IDR 69.000,- while the 200ml size costs IDR 179.000,-. I think this product is worth the money to pamper your skin with its super ingredients.

Overall, The Body Shop Mango Body Butter is heavenly a blast for super dry skin like mine…. If you have a normal skin, you may not like the greasiness feeling that left in the skin especially if you wear it during the sunny day.

Dari bahan dan warna oranye wadahnya, kita dapat petunjuk bahwa krim ini beraroma seperti mangga. Yup benar.... Walaupun saya lebih suka aroma The Body Shop Vitamin E Body Butter, krim ini baunya gak kalah enak, manis, segar, gak bisa ditolak, buat kamu pengen nyicipin dan lengket sepanjang hari - yang merupakan nilai plus jika kamu lupa memakai deodorant atau parfum hahhahhaa ...

Produk ini dikemas dalam wadah plastik berwarna menarik. Kemasannya mudah dibawa saat travelling, tersedia ukuran kecil 50ml dan ukuran sedang 200ml. Kamu bisa memilih ukuran sesuai kebutuhan. Saya beli ukuran sedang dan yang travel karena saya suka membawanya kemanapun saya pergi.

Selain untuk tubuh, saya juga menggunakan produk ini sebagai krim tangan. Saya memakainya setelah mandi pada siang dan malam hari dan dengan sedikit digosok krim ini akan sepenuhnya terserap ke dalam kulit. Super melembabkan dan merubah penampilan kulit saya. Saya sangat boros memakai produk ini, 50ml gampang habis hanya dalam beberapa hari. Meskipun kadang-kadang krim suka masuk ke dalam kuku ketika saya mengambilnya, saya tetap menyukainya ...

Ukuran mini harganya Rp 69.000,- dan yang 200 ml Rp 179,000,-. Menurut saya membeli produk ini tidak menyianyiakan uang untuk memanjakan kulit kamu dengan bahan-bahan supernya.

Secara keseluruhan, The Body Shop Mango Body Butter merupakan kenikmatan surgawi untuk kulit super kering seperti kulit saya .... Kalau kamu memiliki kulit normal, mungkin gak suka sama rasa "berminyak" di kulit terutama jika kamu memakainya pada siang hari yang panas.

Petroleum Jelly (Vaseline) Review

Petroleum Jelly? What is that? Ya... i can see all the question marks on your head hahaha :D (kidding)... I bet many of Indonesian have not known about this product yet. It does not sound familiar here - i know ;) Let's talk about this!!!

What is Petroleum Jelly?

Petroleum jelly is a purified mixture of semi-solid hydrocarbons obtained from petroleum. It is translucent, it has no color, smell and taste, and an oil-based emollient which restricts water loss from the skin - makes it a long-lasting lubricant to smooth and protect rough and dry skin.

Over time skin care or cosmetics will start to smell or change color and may cause skin problems but petroleum jelly does not oxidize (go rancid) on exposure to the air and it is not readily acted on by chemical reagents, which means it lasts longer than the skin care or cosmetics were made with fats and oil from plants and animals do.

A Brief History of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly

According to Vaseline website :

"In the 1860's, a chemist from New York named Robert Augustus Chesebrough, discovered Petroleum Jelly. In 1870, this product was branded as Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. By 1875, Americans were buying Vaseline Petroleum Jelly at the rate of a jar a minute. Today, Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is a staple in medicine cabinets across the country. In 1969, Vaseline scientists realized they could leverage modern technology to deliver the superior moisturization of Vaseline Petroleum Jelly in a light, non-greasy moisturizing lotion. Today, Vaseline is one of the top hand and body lotion brands in the U.S."

The Benefits of Petroleum Jelly

Body

• As body scrub: to remove the dead skin cells and smooth the skin. How? Well, mix the equal amount of Vaseline and sea salt. Rub it with circular motion all over your body, leave it for a few minutes then wash it off with warm water - feel the different ;)
• For massage: if you run out of massage oil, petroleum jelly can replace it, because it is very tacky and oily

Elbows and Knees

It is doing a great job in moisturizing the dry elbows and knees

Face 

• As make up remover: since it is very moisturizing, it takes off make up, and softens the skin at the same time – ideal for those with dry skin
• As moisturizer: it does not clog pores, so you can use it as a moisturizer - for those with normal and oily skin i suggest u not to use it on your face 

Hair

For smooth polished look, take a small amount of Vaseline with your finger then rub it with the palms of your hands, after that apply it to your hair

Hands and Feet

It helps to soften and smooth the dry hands and feet, and protects skin from chapping. Since it is too greasy and tacky and the climate in Indonesia is tropical (tend to be humid) - the use of petroleum jelly is not suitable in the afternoon - especially if you spend most of your time outdoor - i suggest you guys to use it at night before you sleep - you do not want to look "oily" and feel uncomfortable when you go out during the day, do you???
 
Lips

• As exfoliator: mix the petroleum jelly with sugar then gently massage the mixture to your lips then wipe it off with a wet warm towel
• As lip-balm: it moisturizes the dry and chapped lips
• As lip-gloss: you can use it on the top of lipstick to create the "wet" look. If you are those who do not like to wear lipstick whatsoever and prefer only to wear lipgloss for everyday use and you think that a translucent no color lipgloss is so boorrring - well, you can make your own lip gloss by the way - by mixing the petroleum jelly with your lipstick or other ingredients so it has flavor and color - you can do a little "experiment" with your cosmetics - how fun is that? ;) i do it sometimes :D

Nails

To improve the cuticles appearance and to soften them before trimming, massage Vaseline into your cuticles for couple minutes

This petroleum jelly has another benefits besides for beauty need i told you above, such as a lubricant to your stuck ring, shine your leather shoes, and many more.

Pros

• It contains no fragrance and taste - it can be used for those with allergy
• It does not expire quickly and can be kept in storage for emergency uses
• It is an ideal skin conditioning agent for dry, rough and chopped skin
• It is easy to bring on your bag - since they have the different packaging from small - big tube
• It is non-comedogenic, which means no chance of pimples coming even if you are applying on your face
• Multi-purpose use
• The price is affordable

Cons

• For hair - i tried it on, it is too heavy- and i think the hair products do better
• Some people are questioning about the safeness of this product. The concern is with impurities in the manufacturing process, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons that are considered potentially carcinogenic (which can cause cancer). According to the source that i read - petroleum jelly is not the same as unrefined petroleum material that is said to be carcinogenic. Petroleum jelly for food, drugs, and cosmetics must meet FDA impurity restrictions. But not all the manufacturers choose to use refined petroleum in their product
• The product is too greasy and tacky. It can be hard to remove from both skin and clothing. For you guys who does not like the greasiness and tackiness (neither do i) then this is not the product that you are looking for. It feels like wearing a lipbalm all over your body (disgusting) ;) but i do like to use it as a lipbalm ;)
  

Conclusion 
Vaseline Petroleum Jelly is inexpensive product which has many benefits. The ability to retain moisture makes it ideal for dry skin. It is a perfect solution for you DDG who is on budget. You can save your money for buying exfoliator, make up remover, hair products and other beauty stuffs, you just need this one brilliant product for your beauty solution - head to toe ;)
Each product has their own pro and cons, so with this one - for your concern, i think you should look for petroleum jelly which meets specific purity standards, and go with trusted brands like Vaseline Petroleum Jelly. 
For those who live in Indonesia - since there are a lot of products which have not passed the safety standard of "Badan/Balai POM (Pengawas Obat dan Makanan)" marketed illegally here, you have to be careful and smart in buying and choosing the product that you want to use. It is your body - it is your own responsibility. ;)
