Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet #38 La Fascinante Review & Swatches

This rainy season changes the game of beauty look. My current mood is red lips and my favorite one (in this season) is Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet 38 La Fascinante.

Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet has different case from most lipsticks’ packaging in the market. This one attracts the beauty hunter with its “click” opener, you can simply press the bottom side of the lipstick (where the Chanel Logo is in) to open the case. The "click" case plus gold and black color makes the product look sleek and classy. The other thing that you can’t resist is the nice smell, it’s not strong but it’s very addictive - i can smell it all day ;).

La Fascinante is blue-based red with berry undertones. On the tube, the color looks darker (looks like browny red) than on the lips. As their claim, the texture is velvet, smooth, and lightweight. Don't get surprised with the finish. It's a matte lipstick but you won't get a flat matte - it's another kind of  matte - it reflects light. It applies a bit shiny for the first few minutes, but after it dries it will look semi matte.

For a fairly pricey lipstick, it will let you down because it lacks substantial staying power compared to some other true mattes like MAC Retro Mattes. I found the product was still quite intact after three - four hours without having greasy food, a lot of drink or talking.

Conclusion

For me, La Fascinante is pretty - i love how it looks, it feels and smells. Although, the color is not super fantastic or unique, it looks muted and wearable on lips, unlike the other matte products that look statement and fake. It's kinda shade that you can wear everyday as it yields a pigmented stain in one swipe - so you can achieve not "so bold" look and its formula is easy to work with + it doesn't dry lips. For whoever with chapped lips and look for matte lipstick - i would recommend this product - it's a holy grail - you still get the matte look without need to prepare your lips with balm which often defeats the look of a matte and your dry lips saved from being emphasized.
